Approval Associate
(Underwriter)

The Approval Associate is responsible for underwriting and approving mortgage applications in accordance with established agency, investor and company underwriting guidelines. The Approval Associate reports to the Director of Loan Engineering.

Approval Associates are responsible for evaluating borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral documentation to issue loan approvals. This role involves periodic customer interaction during the approval process.

​

Approval Associates will collaborate across the MortgageCountry Team to identify opportunities for continuous process improvements to meet and continuously enhance internal management key performance indicators (KPIs).

About You

  • You are a self-starter who is comfortable in a flexible work environment with minimal direct oversight in a distributed business model.

  • You value a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • You are polished, friendly, and value periodic customer interactions.

  • You are extremely detail-oriented with an in depth understanding of mortgage underwriting guidelines and government agency loan manufacturing requirements.

  • You have 2+ years of direct experience underwriting FMNA and FHLMC conforming residential mortgage loans. You are proficient with industry calculations and have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • You have experience working in mortgage loan origination systems and can quickly learn new systems and management reports. Proficiency with Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LPA) is required.

  • You constantly look for ways to improve both yourself and the organization around you, and do not settle for “business as usual”.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
